September in Oakville is always filled with community events for residents and visitors to enjoy. From Kerrfest, to the Fall Celtic Festival, to Oakville Fire Prevention Week, our community is home to a diverse array of events and festivals. Over the past few weeks, I joined Oakville residents at many of these wonderful events to connect with constituents, neighbours, and friends.

This is a great time to support local. Our three Business Improvement Associations: the Downtown BIA, Kerr Village BIA, Bronte BIA, and their members do a fantastic job creating beautiful and engaging streetscapes while delivering unique programs to support vibrant business centres and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Supporting community events and economic development is a priority for our government. This year, we have invested $263,000 in Oakville businesses, associations, and community projects to support our local goals.

Through the My Main Street Funding program, which is focused on building and supporting vibrant, diverse neighbourhoods, we have invested $168,000 for businesses to grow and build their capacity, and $21,000 for community projects that bring in visitors and increase local vibrancy.

Through our Tourism Growth Program, we have invested $64,000 to support events that draw visitors to our community, benefitting businesses and stimulating the local economy. We also supported the Oakville Fall Celtic Festival again this year with $10,000 in funding from our Multicultural Funding Program.

I will continue to ensure that Oakville businesses and organizations can benefit from federal funding that supports business and economic development in our community.

Kerrfest 2024
Lovely to connect with so many friends and neighbours at Kerrfest this year! Thank you to the Kerr Village BIA for organizing a great event to celebrate the vibrancy of the Kerr Village community.

Oakville Fire Prevention Week
I joined the Oakville Fire Department for their Fire Prevention Week Kick-Off, a fun event with some amazing demonstrations and a focus on what we can do to prevent fires before they occur.

Special thanks to Oakville's firefighters for their bravery and commitment to protecting our community!

Oakville Fall Celtic Festival
Wonderful to see the community come together to celebrate Celtic culture in Oakville with great music, dance, and fun for all. I am pleased that we were able to secure $10,000 in federal funding to support this event.

Thank you to the organizers and volunteers for making it such a memorable day!
