As we wrap up our Cabinet Retreat in Halifax, Nova Scotia, I am as focused as ever on delivering progress for our Oakville community, and for all Canadians.

Yesterday, I announced my plan to strike a working group which will study productivity within both the public and private sectors. With a AAA credit rating and the lowest net debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7, Canadians can be proud of our strong economic markers. With Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic Leblanc, I will also be taking steps to address barriers to inter-provincial trade.

Throughout the summer, I met with Oakville businesses that received Canada Summer Jobs Funding (CDJ). The federal CSJ program brought $1.3 million to Oakville businesses and supported 300+ jobs in our community including: looking after our green spaces, engaging campers, promoting healthy lifestyles and developing talents.

I also met with Oakville businesses who participated in the Government of Canada Trade Mission. The key benefit was the same for each of them: the opportunity to access international markets to grow their business.

International Trade Minister Mary Ng will be leading a Trade Mission to Jakarta and Manila from Sunday, December 1 to Friday, December 6, 2024. For more information on eligibility and the trade mission, please refer to this link: Team Canada Trade Mission to Indonesia and The Philippines.

As a resident of Oakville, I understand the tremendous value and importance of small businesses within our community. That's why we expanded the exemptions on the Canadian Entrepreneurs' Incentive through eliminating the founder requirement, and reducing both the ownership level percentage and time requirements.

Call for Proposals: New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP)

2024 Canada Summer Jobs Visit at Wai Nui Canoe Club
So exciting to connect with students at Wai Nui Canoe Club through the 2024 Canada Summer Jobs program. I'm proud to support the CSJ program, which has helped students in Oakville find 300+ jobs looking after our green spaces, engaging campers, promoting healthy lifestyles, developing talents, and more!

NHCA's Multicultural Festival
It was a pleasure to attend the Nigerian Halton Community Association's Multicultural Festival in Oakville on August 17th. Special thanks to all the staff and volunteers who helped make the event a beautiful celebration of culture with delicious food and lively music!

OSC Community Celebration
I was thrilled to join the Oakville Soccer Club's Community Celebration on the 17th of August. So many incredible families coming together for a day of fun activities at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre. Thanks again to the Oakville Soccer Club for all that you do to promote a healthy and inclusive lifestyle in our community!

Recognizing Local Excellence: Veronica Tyrrell
Yesterday, we remembered a true pillar of the Oakville community. Veronica Tyrrell, a founding member of the Halton Multicultural Council and long-serving president of the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton is remembered as a tireless advocate for diversity, inclusion and community development in Halton. Proud to remember her life and legacy on Victoria Tyrrell Day, the 27th of August.
