Canada's universal health care system has always been a source of pride in our country, and a model for other countries across the world. That's why our government is committed to improving supports for millions of Canadians to receive the high quality, cost-effective health care they need.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) has become a vital support to over one million Canadians across the country, including over 10,000 right here in Oakville. This month, I visited 16 Mile Dental to see the positive impacts the Canadian Dental Care Plan has had within our community. Patients who qualify for the CDCP have already seen their dental bills reduced by hundreds of dollars, making it easier for seniors, families with children, and adults living with a disability to access timely and affordable oral health care while putting money back in their pockets.

Dental care is health care, and our government considers it vital that all Canadians can access it without worrying about the affordability of care. While the Conservatives continue to vote against benefits like the CDCP, our government will work to ensure even more eligible Canadians are able to access affordable dental care.

In addition, our government has worked to expand Canadians' access to essential medication through our Pharmacare program. Through bilateral agreements with the provinces and territories, Pharmacare will support reproductive freedom by providing up to nine million women in Canada free access to contraception. Additionally, the 3.7 million people in Canada living with diabetes will have universal access to a suite of medications that reduce the risk of serious health complications and improve quality of life.

Everyone in Canada deserves access to the medications they need, regardless of where they live or their ability to pay. Our government will continue to support our health care system and foster healthy communities.
