When working for our country in the House of Commons, my thoughts are always with the residents of Oakville and the issues that matter to them. And when speaking with friends and neighbours across the community, I hear the importance of continuing to support Canada's sources of vital, verifiable news and information, and protecting our country's environment and natural resources.

That is why I believe in the importance of protecting the CBC and Radio Canada, one of our country's most consistent and reliable sources of information and a true Canadian institution. Defunding the CBC, as Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives have pledged to do, would severely impact Canadians' ability to access important, verified news and information in both official languages and eight Indigenous languages. It would result in the loss of roughly 8,000 Canadian jobs, impact local reporting, and severely impact the level of international coverage from the Canadian perspective on issues like environmental catastrophes or global conflicts.

Continuing to protect our country's major national broadcaster and its ability to deliver independent and verified information to Canadians across the country is the right way to combat the spread of disinformation and foreign interference.

Our government also remains committed to protecting our environment and our country's national resources, as we have invested over $100 billion towards climate action and clean growth since 2016. We have taken action to get to net-zero emissions by 2050, advanced a ban on harmful single-use plastics, committed to eliminating plastic waste by 2030, and offered rebates of up to $5,000 to 100,000 Canadians who have purchased electric vehicles to help ensure 100% of new vehicles sold in Canada are zero-emission by 2035.

Our government's environmental plan focuses on creating more green jobs, cleaner communities, and reducing emissions across our country, as well as putting money back in the pockets of Canadians through programs like the Canada Carbon Rebate which has delivered $70 million to Oakville residents in 2024.

When it comes to protecting Canada's heritage and working towards a greener future, our government will always be there for Canadians.

Happy Diwali!
I was so grateful to be able to attend a number of Diwali events this year! From the Oakville Town Hall's Diwali event last weekend, to Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas on Parliament Hill where I was joined by more than 100 friends and neighbours from Oakville! Thank you again to everyone who made this year's Diwali so special.

CDCP Hits One Million Milestone!
With our government's new Canadian Dental Care Plan recently supporting one million Canadians in need of affordable dental care, I visited Dr. Sama Salim and her office at 16 Mile Dental to discuss the positive impacts the program has had so far on over 10,000 residents of Oakville!

2024-25 Youth Council Kick-Off
It was amazing to meet with members of my 2024-25 Youth Council before their first event of the year: learning about our community history at the Oakville Museum. I'm so proud of the level of political awareness and involvement in our community, especially among our young students!
