As President of the Treasury Board Secretariat and a member of the Prime Minister’s core economic team, I am focused on supporting the needs of small businesses, making life more affordable for Canadians, and fostering economic growth. At a time of global economic headwinds, our economy continues to show its resiliency and is exceeding expectations with real GDP expanding by 3.1% in the first quarter of 2023. In my new role, I will work closely with Chambers of Commerce, businesses, public servants, and more to grow our economy and deliver for all Canadians.

It was a pleasure to speak with my local Chamber of Commerce in Oakville as one of my first engagements as President of the Treasury Board. I had a productive discussion with local business owners and managers on how we can support  our business community and make life more affordable for Canadians by ensuring taxpayer funds are spent wisely.

I also recently sat down with the Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce to hear how our government can support local businesses and their community. The Town of the Blue Mountains is the second fastest-growing community in Canada with a thriving tourism and enduring agriculture industry. I discussed with chamber members how our government is supporting local business growth by making our regulatory system more efficient and less burdensome for businesses.

I look forward to travelling across the country engaging with Canadians and business communities about our economic agenda. It is my priority to deliver on what matters most to Canadians: making life more affordable for all and growing the economy.

Meeting with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce
A productive meeting with our very own Oakville Chamber of Commerce to discuss supporting local #smallbiz & entrepreneurs, innovation in the Canadian economy and making life more affordable for Canadians.

As President of the Treasury Board, it is my responsibility to ensure that Canadians’ tax dollars are spent prudently while supporting Canadians who need it most. It was a pleasure to discuss all of these issues with the Chamber this morning.

Meeting with The Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce
And just like that, the Ontario caucus retreat 2023 comes to an end! It is always great to talk to my colleagues about how we can continue to make life better for Ontarians. I can’t wait to get back to Ottawa for a productive Fall session!

Speaking with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Canada’s labour unions have been a force for positive change. Unions built the middle class, and our government has made supporting the middle class our number one priority.

That’s the goal of our economic plan, and in my role as President of the Treasury Board.

It was great to meet with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, one of the several unions #TBS has a ratified collective bargaining agreement with, to talk about my economic agenda and how we can best support our public servants.
